Welcome to Uncommon Architects! We are a diverse, forward-thinking group of architects and designers based in Salt Lake County, Utah. Uncommon was formed by blending two existing firms, Trio Design, and Raw Design Studio, previously operated by Brittany White Johnson and Darin Mano. With their varied project experience and skill sets, we saw strength in bringing our teams together. As a result, Uncommon Architects will now serve clients throughout the Wasatch Front and beyond more effectively than Trio or Raw could alone.

Our founders, Brittany and Darin, bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the table. Brittany White Johnson previously owned Trio Design, where she developed her project management and client relations skills and built a deep portfolio of institutional, religious, retail, and residential work. Brittany is a natural leader and a skilled business owner. Darin Mano founded Raw Design in 2012 and has extensive experience in commercial office, healthcare, and multifamily residential projects. Darin also serves on the Salt Lake City Council, giving him a unique perspective on Urban Planning and valuable skills in working with municipal governments. Uncommon Architects combines the strengths of each of its founders into a noticeably distinctive firm.

At Uncommon Architects, we know that the best results come from a team approach to design. We reject the traditional practice of a top-down master architect, where all ideas originate from one place. Instead, the youngest members of our team are invited into the design process, and the client's ideas are just as valuable as ours. We work closely with our clients to understand their unique needs, desires, and requirements to create designs tailored to each project. Our collaborative approach produces the best results and leads to long-lasting relationships developed over time and built on trust.
