Bringing Character Back to Historic Midvale, Utah

Historic Midvale, Utah is where Uncommon Architects calls home. We’re thrilled to be sharing that a little piece of historic Main Street is getting a second look.

This façade on Midvale Main Street was covered with a metal panel system in the 1960s when the storefront was replaced with aluminum windows and the retail entrances were reconfigured. With very limited information about the original design, our goal is to carefully peel back the layers and restore as much of the building’s original character as possible while giving it new life for today’s Main Street.

Here’s a peek at what we believe may be one of the earliest photos of the original exterior façade. Sometimes the best design work starts with a little detective work.

We have a passion for breathing new life into historic spaces. Got a renovation or renewal project of your own in mind? We’d love to partner. Shoot us a note and we’ll be in touch. We can’t wait to create a new, old space with you.
