A Season of Gratitude and Giving Back
We spend a lot of time thinking about space—how it functions, how it feels, and how it serves the people who use it. But the truth is, the communities we help shape really help to shape us. And for that, we’re endlessly grateful.
Salt Lake County (and Utah as a whole) has given us more than clients and collaborators—it’s given us friendships, inspiration, trust, and a shared sense of responsibility to leave things better than we found them. Whether we’re sketching public gathering spaces, dreaming up community hubs, or designing places where families connect, we’re always mindful that architecture isn’t just about structures… it’s about people.
So this year, we made sure to carve out time to give back to the communities that make our work possible. Not in big, flashy ways, but in human, boots-on-the-ground ways that matter at the neighborhood level.
Circles Salt Lake: Community Dinner + Halloween Trunk-or-Treat
In October, our team partnered with Circles Salt Lake—an organization dedicated to building community connections and reducing poverty through relationships, support, and shared experiences. We didn’t just want to donate to the cause, we wanted to show up for it.
That meant rolling up our sleeves for one of Circles’ signature community dinners—helping serve meals, share conversations, and support an event designed to bring people together who might otherwise feel invisible or disconnected.
And since it was October, we kept the community spirit rolling by joining their Halloween festivities, too. We helped organize a Trunk-or-Treat event, offering kids a safe place to celebrate and families a moment to just be together. Add costumes, candy, car trunks transformed into miniature worlds, and the result was exactly what community design aims for: shared joy, shared connection, shared belonging.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah: Golf Fore Kids’ Sake
This year we also sponsored a hole at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah “Golf Fore Kids’ Sake” tournament—a fundraiser that supports mentorship programs for youth across the state.
Golf tournaments may not be the first thing people think of when they imagine architecture firms giving back, but we love the symbolism of it. You can’t finish a golf course without moving from one designed space to the next. It’s strategic, intentional, and communal—kind of like how we approach architecture.
By sponsoring a hole, we weren’t just supporting the organization financially—we were supporting a mission we believe in: investing in young people through guidance, stability, and long-term relationships. Strong communities don’t just need thoughtful buildings, they need supported families, connected youth, and consistent mentorship.
Designed for People, Built by Community
This year reminded us that the best communities are the ones built on generosity, participation, and shared responsibility. Our work may be designing buildings, but our purpose is always designing for people.
So to the community that has supported us, trusted us, and inspired us this year: thank you. You’ve shaped our work, our mission, and our perspective. And we’ll keep finding meaningful ways to give back—because the communities we serve are the same communities we call home.
